Grateful Diver started in 1995 when Grateful Dead drummer Bill Kreutzmann, a passionate diver, created the logo by adding the band’s lightning bolt to a red dive flag. He gave the rights to Coral Forest, which later merged with Reef Relief, a nonprofit focused on reef conservation. Fellow band member Bob Weir also supported the cause as a board member.
Today, Grateful Diver's mission is to protect our environment and bring together people who care about nature and the ocean.
